Virtual Winter/Spring Programs

The Youth Services team is excited to start 2021 with an assortment of engaging, virtual programs for kids & families! Here is an overview of our current Youth programs–see our virtual events calendar for the complete picture.


Mondays: STEAM (ages 8-12) on Zoom;
10:30 AM on Feb. 8 & 22, Mar. 15 & 22, and Apr. 5

Kids ages 8-12 are invited to join us for engaging and educational virtual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) programs!
STEAM will feature lessons and experiments you can follow along with using household items.

Registration is required for STEAM. Please call (434) 455-6320 prior to the date of the program. We will email you the Zoom link and password. Once you are registered, no need to sign up again–you may attend all future sessions! (The link and password will remain valid.)

Multiple children in the same household count as one registration. One registration/device per household, please.


Tuesdays: Storytime (ages 2-5) on Facebook Live;
10:30 AM every other Tuesday from Feb. 2-Apr. 13

Kids ages 2-5 (and their families) are invited to join us on Facebook Live for a fun and lively storytime!
Storytime will take place at 10:30 AM every other Tuesday beginning with Feb. 2, and will feature stories, rhymes, songs, and games to promote early literacy skills.

Registration is not required for our Facebook programs. Each Storytime program will remain up on Facebook for one hour after it finishes.


Wednesdays: Monthly “Group” Storytime (all ages) on Facebook;
10:30 AM Feb. 3, Mar. 3, Apr. 7

Join us once a month for the Facebook Premiere of a pre-recorded storytime, featuring multiple members of the Youth Services staff. Each month’s storytime will have a fun theme!
Feb. 3: Valentine
Mar. 3: Spring
Apr. 7: Weather

Registration is not required for our Facebook progams. Each of these particular storytime videos will remain up on Facebook for one month.


Thursdays: Junior Explorers (ages 5-7) on Facebook Live;
4:30 PM Feb. 1, Mar. 1, Apr. 1

Kids ages 5-7 are invited to join us for a fun and educational Junior Explorers program on Facebook Live!
Junior Explorers will take place at 4:30 PM on the first Thursday of each month (Feb.-Apr.), and will feature a combination of traditional storytime elements combined with early STEAM skills. Parents/guardians are highly encouraged to participate along with their child.

Registration is not required for our Facebook programs. Each Junior Explorers program will remain up on Facebook for one hour after it finishes.


Thursdays: Bedtime Storytime (ages 2-5) on Facebook Live;
6:30 PM Feb. 25, Mar. 18, Apr. 15

Kids ages 2-5 (and their families) are invited to join us for a fun and relaxing bedtime storytime on Facebook Live!
Bedtime Storytime will feature bedtime and/or bathtime stories, rhymes, and songs.

Registration is not required for our Facebook programs. Each Bedtime Storytime program will remain up on Facebook for one hour after it finishes.


Fridays: Virtual Escape Rooms (all ages)
Available starting at 10:30 AM Feb. 12, Mar. 12, Apr. 9

Kids of all ages: Youth Services staff have been busy creating some cool, online escape rooms for you and your family! Challenge levels will vary, but all will be appropriate for children. Test your luck and skill from the comfort of your own home!

A link for each escape room will be posted on our Virtual Escape Rooms page and our Facebook as they become available.

No registration is required for our Virtual Escape Rooms.


Fridays: Trivia for Kids & Families (all ages)
Available starting at 10:30 AM Feb. 26 & Mar. 26

Kids & families are encouraged to join us on Facebook for some friendly trivia competition!
Our trivia questions are custom-made using Kahoot!. Trivia quizzes will be available on our Facebook page for 28 days after 10:30 on the program date or until participation limit is reached.

No registration is required for Trivia.
