Summer Reading – Kids Program

A promotion for the 2021 Summer Reading Program for kids. The Program runs from June 1 to July 31.

Library programs:

This summer, we are offering an exciting mix of in-person and virtual programs for kids! Preregistration will be required for all in-person programs.

Summer Reading log & earning prizes:

You can log your books or minutes read on READsquared. Your READsquared account will allow you to earn badges, rewards, and entries into our prize drawings for the time you spend reading throughout the summer!

How READsquared works:

  • Visit our READsquared website or download the app from the app store on your smartphone or tablet and register for an account. You may register individually or as a family.
  • Prefer to track your reading on paper? You can also visit the Library anytime throughout the summer to pick up a paper log instead. Once you have filled your paper log, return it to the Youth Services desk by July 31 to be entered into the prize drawings.
  • Log your time spent reading.
    • Any type of reading material (print, e-book, graphic novels, audio-book, etc.) counts toward your goal.
    • Reading to your children counts as well.
    • Make sure to log your reading by July 31 to be entered into the prize drawings!
  • After every 100 points, you will earn a fun badge and move on to the next level. Certain levels will earn you a reward or an entry into one of our prize drawings! (READsquared will notify you when this is the case.) Once you’ve earned 1,000 points and reached level 10, you will have completed the program!

Pre-K Program:

  • The Pre-K Program is for children ages birth to age 4.
  • Caregivers may choose whether to register their 4-year-old for either the Pre-K Program or the Children’s Program.
  • Earn points by reading to your child and logging the minutes you read together or the number of books you read together.
  • 1 book read = 50 points
  • 1 minute read = 1 point
