Lynchburg Public Library

Tweens and Teens Art Show

Showcase your artwork in the library and have a chance to win a $50 gift card to the Art Box!

Here’s How it Works

Work on your art throughout the summer and submit it to the library by July 19 to be entered to win! The Art Show is open to ages 10-18 and local artists will participate in selecting winners. There will be one winner for ages 10-12 and one winner for ages 13-18. Art can be summitted anytime throughout the summer to the Youth Services desk; however, the deadline to submit is July 19. Winners will be announced on July 26 and all artwork will be displayed in-person in the Teen Room and virtually on the LPL website during the final week of the Summer Reading Program, July 26-31. All artwork must be picked up at the Youth Services Desk during the first week of August.

Guidelines: Tweens and Teens ages 10-18 may submit one piece of artwork to the Art Show. Any artwork that is inappropriate such as art featuring profanity, violence, or any other offensive material will be disqualified. The library will not be held responsible for lost or damaged art.

You can work on your artwork at home throughout the summer, but you’re also welcome to attend both our Kickoff Event and Open Studio Days! Visit our online calendar to view specific dates and times and to register! Registration is required.

Kickoff Event:

A meet and greet with local artists followed by a bookend painting event! Paint an animal themed bookend to be used to decorate the YA and Youth fiction sections of the library. The Kickoff Event will be held on June 7 at 3:00 PM and participation will be limited to 20 attendees. Registration is required for this event. Click here to register for the Kickoff Event. Don’t worry if you can’t attend! Participation in the Kickoff Event is not mandatory and you can still submit your artwork at the end of the summer if you do not attend.

Studio Days:

You can work on your artwork at home, but we will also be hosting open studio days throughout the summer! Come hang out with other tweens and teens and make use of our art supplies! Participants will have access to a selection of sketching pencils, paints, colored pencils, and oil pastels.  Participation is limited to 20 attendees and registration is required.
