Tweens and Teens Art Show

Logo for Summer 22 Tweens and Teens Art Show

Showcase your artwork in the Lynchburg Public Library and have a chance to win a $50 gift card to the Art Box!

Here’s How it Works

Work on your art throughout the summer and submit it to the library by July 19 to be entered to win! The Art Show is open to tweens, ages 9-12, and teens, ages 13-17. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each age category. Local artists who participate in the Kickoff Event will return at the end of the summer to select the Art Show winners. Winners will be announced on July 25 and all artwork will be displayed in-person in the Teen Room and virtually on the LPL website July 25 – August 6, 2022.

Guidelines: Tweens and Teens ages 9-17 may submit one piece of artwork to the Art Show. All types of art can be submitted, whether you create a painting, pottery, or digital art! There is no size limitation for artwork submitted; however all artwork for the Tweens and Teens Art Show will be displayed inside the Teen Room at the LPL Main Library and will need to be reasonably sized to be able to be displayed in the space. Only one submission per applicant will be considered for the prize selections. Any artwork that is inappropriate such as art featuring profanity, violence, or any other offensive material will be disqualified. The library will not be held responsible for lost or damaged art.

You can work on your artwork at home throughout the summer, but you’re also welcome to attend both our Kickoff Event and Open Studio Days! Visit our online calendar to for more information, or to view specific dates and times.

Kickoff Event: June 7 | 3:00-4:30 PM

A Meet and Greet with local artists Christina Davis, Stephen Kissel, and Ella Morrison followed by a bookend painting event! Paint a bookend to be used to decorate the YA and Youth Fiction sections of the library!

Studio Days: Jun 14, 28 & July 12 | 3:00-4:00 PM

You can work on your artwork at home, but we will also be hosting open studio days throughout the summer! Come hang out with other tweens and teens and make use of our art supplies! Participants will have access to a selection of sketching pencils, paints, colored pencils, and oil pastels.
