Serving as a mobile library branch, the Lynchburg Public Library Bookmobile is dedicated to bringing library services directly to residents throughout Lynchburg. Thanks to the generosity of community donors and partner organizations, the Friends of the Lynchburg Public Library raised more than $275,000 to purchase the vehicle at no cost to the City of Lynchburg in celebration of the library’s 60th anniversary.
Operated by two dedicated managers who organize and oversee services, the bookmobile maintains its own collection, presents programs, attends community events, visits schools, community centers, and senior housing, but most importantly, issues library cards.
This bookmobile continues the library’s mission to serve all citizens and expand access to library services for years to come.
